“Traditions and Modernity” is not just a festival.
Every year our foundation gathers creative people eager to share their works not only with the art community, but also with festival visitors, immersing viewers in intercultural dialog on different levels.
In 2024, for the first time, young artists took part.
Beginners exhibited their works on an equal footing with recognized artists, and the young visitors were given exciting master classes in animation, video shooting and editing, created watercolor postcards, painted children’s toys and made prints on bandanas.
The motto of the 2024 festival – “Art without Borders” – fully describes the philosophy of the Moscow Public Foundation for the Support of Culture and Contemporary Art.
Since 2007, when the organization was founded, the festival has become a unique platform for cultural exchange and creative interaction between artists from all over the world.
The Festival has already managed to gain a reputation not only in Russia, but also abroad, three times the Festival was held in Lisbon, Portugal.
An integral part of the Festival program is the awarding of the VERA Prize.
In 2024 nine directions were chosen for the award ceremony, 16 laureates became the owners of the main award – bronze statuette “VERA”, created by Honored Artist of Russia, sculptor V. Mitroshin.
Special attention of the international jury was drawn to the special project “Africa without Borders”, which presented works of art from many African countries.
Works by artists from Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana and other countries turned out to be a real discovery for the Russian public.
A unique collection of masks, sculptures and everyday objects of African people was collected by the Foundation directly in the countries of the African continent for the demonstration of traditional art objects of West Africa.
Every day in Gostiny Dvor there were lectures, public discussions and debates immersing guests into the heart of the art world.
The Festival program included lectures on the following topics:
– “How to form a collection”
– “Development and support for young artists. What the artist faces in the current realities and what to do to overcome barriers. Factors influencing pricing”
– “How contemporary art was inspired by medieval icons” and others.
There was also a place for the newly revived tradition of poetry reading with the project “Poetarium” with Inna Parfenova.
The celebration of culture and creativity was attended by government officials, businessmen, famous artists, singers and actors, and more than 500 art connoisseurs.
We look forward to seeing you at the new International Fine Arts Festival in 2025!
May art continue to connect hearts and expand horizons!
