Opening of the XIII Moscow International Festival of Arts “Traditions and Modernity”

The grand opening of the XIII International Festival of Arts “Traditions and Modernity” was held in Gostiny Dvor. This year, under the motto “Art Without Borders”, delegations from the BRICS countries, as well as artists and gallery owners from 30 countries of the world take part in the festival. The Festival platform brings together 10 areas in one huge exhibition space: painting, graphics, sculpture, photography, installation, applied art, dolls, museum studies, masks and digital art.

This year’s theme is “Art without borders”.
Authors from China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Ecuador, Oman, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, USA, Great Britain and other countries present their works.
A separate exposition presents African art, interest in which is now growing all over the world, and the works of African artists are considered one of the most interesting for investment. Paintings, drawings and sculptures from Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo, Uganda, Madagascar and other African countries are a discovery for the Russian public.
One of the most spectacular objects of the festival was the digital installation “Sphere”: the works of digital artists from all over the world are transcribed on a huge luminous ball over 3.5 meters in diameter.

Russian artist Daria Sanatina will show an immersive show, during which she draws blindfolded, and she is accompanied by a young violinist.
The theme of childhood inspires many painters. The stand “State of Childhood” presents the works of four artists: Galina Uzhdavini, Ekaterina Krylova, Rodion Artamonov and Sveta Kournikova. Emotions and experiences of the early years of life will be close to viewers of different ages and will help children and parents have a heart-to-heart talk.

The festival also hosts lectures and public talks on the topic of art, performances by musicians and dance groups from around the world, and special events for children.
For young visitors, master classes have been prepared, where you can create masterpieces with your own hands. Teachers will talk about drawing in the African technique of “tinga-tinga” and help to make art objects.
