Festival Program

Festival "Traditions and Modernity" June 20-23, Gostiny Dvor

The XIII Moscow International Festival of Arts “Traditions and Modernity” will be held from June 20 to 23 in Gostiny Dvor. Artists from all continents from more than 20 countries of the world will come to Moscow, which will make the festival the most important event not only in the cultural life of Russia, but also confirm the international status of our country as one of the world’s most important cultural centers. Authors from China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Ecuador, Oman, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, USA, Great Britain and other countries will present their works.
President of the festival Vera Kiseleva: “The festival has existed for more than 15 years, but this year’s program is unique. We are proud that we managed to gather participants from all over the world in one huge exhibition space and many of the artists will come to present their works in person. The motto of our festival is ‘Art Without Borders’ and it fully describes this programme.”
A separate exposition will present African art, interest in which is now growing all over the world, and the works of African artists are considered one of the most interesting for investment. Paintings, drawings and sculptures from Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo, Uganda, Madagascar and other African countries, according to the organizers, will be a discovery for the Russian public.
One of the most spectacular objects of the festival will be the digital installation “Sphere”: the works of digital artists from all over the world will be broadcast on a huge luminous ball over 3.5 meters in diameter.
Another special project of the festival is an unusual selection of works by the famous Soviet and Russian artist Tahir Salakhov “Skill and Inspiration”. The founder of the “severe style”, he rarely turned to female images, so the collection of female portraits will surprise even those experienced in art. Works by other Russian artists will also be shown, including Konstantin Khudyakov, Dmitry Kholkin, Alexander Zakharov, Gleb Bogomolov, Anatoly Zaslavsky, Alexander Pesterev, etc.
The largest Russian galleries will have separate stands: Khankhalaev, Form&Bronze and others, and Tatyana Nikitina’s Art Holding will exhibit works by Russian and foreign artists and sculptors, including Giorgio de Chirico, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, etc.
In addition to the rich exhibition program, lectures and public talks on the topic of art, performances by musicians and dance groups from around the world, as well as special events for children will be held daily at the festival.
Ticket price: from 300 to 1500 rubles.
